Effective date: 5 April 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Android application Nomix Proxy Switcher (the “App”) processes information. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” mean the publisher of the App. This document is provided for transparency and does not create contractual rights. For legal advice, consult a qualified professional.
1. Data we collectWe do not operate our own servers to collect, store, or analyse your personal data for our purposes. In particular, we do not:
1. log your IP address, browsing history, DNS queries, or URLs for our purposes;
2. record connection timestamps or session durations on our systems; or
3. receive the content of your network traffic on infrastructure we control.
The App does not integrate analytics SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting toolkits.
2. How the VPN and proxy feature worksThe App uses Android’s VpnService API. The VPN service component is protected with `android.permission.BIND_VPN_SERVICE`. When you start the VPN, the App:
1. creates a secure tunnel interface on your device; and
2. routes network traffic through the SOCKS proxy you configure.
Traffic is handled on your device solely to forward it to the proxy you choose. We do not log that traffic, sell it, or upload it to our servers. The App does not monitor your browsing on our behalf; its role is local forwarding in accordance with your settings.
Operator of your proxy. The party that operates the proxy server you enter may observe traffic that passes through that server. We do not control that. You should use proxies you trust.
3. Permissions we useThe App may request or rely on the following Android permissions:
- VpnService / BIND_VPN_SERVICE — To start and stop the VPN tunnel when you request it and to route traffic through your proxy.
- INTERNET — To open network connections via your proxy and, where applicable, for optional connectivity checks (see Section 5).
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — To determine whether the device has network connectivity before starting or retrying connections.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — To optionally restore VPN or proxy behaviour after the device restarts, if you have enabled the relevant option in the App’s settings.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE — To keep the VPN and related components running reliably while active, including a visible notification as required by Android.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — To show the foreground-service notification on Android 13 and later.
4. Local storageThe App stores configuration data only on your device(for example: proxy host, port, profile names, optional credentials, and related options). We cannot access that data remotely.
Android backup. Sensitive preferences are excluded from Google’s automatic cloud backup for this App, so those settings are not uploaded to your Google account backup by design. Other data may still be subject to your device’s backup settings where Android allows.
5. Third-party services (connectivity check)When you use features that verify external IP address or connectivity through the proxy, the App may request public IP information from third-party services directly from your device:
1. ip-api.com — Documentation and legal information: https://ip-api.com/docs/legal
The free tier may use HTTP; see their site for current terms and privacy practices.
2. api.ipify.org — Used as an HTTPS fallback. Information: https://www.ipify.org/
See their site for applicable terms and privacy practices.
Those providers may see the IP address as observed by their servers (often the exit IP of your proxy, not necessarily your home or mobile IP). We do not control how they process data. Such requests are not sent to our servers.
6. Diagnostics (log output)If logging is enabled on the device (for example in development builds or via developer options), Android’s system log (logcat) may contain technical messages (such as connection state). Those messages remain on the device unless you or your tools export them. We do not collect logcat output remotely.
7. Children’s privacyThe App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we do not operate a data-collection backend for the App, we do not create profiles of children on our systems.
8. Changes to this policyWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this document will be revised when we do. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
